Privacy Policy
Braise is a meal-planning app. This page explains what it stores and why, in plain language. Braise does not sell data, does not show ads, and does not use advertising or analytics trackers.
What Braise stores
- Account: your name, email address and a salted hash of your password. Braise never stores the password itself.
- Your content: recipes you add, meal plans, grocery lists, pantry staples, and preferences such as household size, meal schedule and dietary restrictions. If you pick a store, that choice and your ZIP code are stored with your preferences; and when you import a recipe from a video link, the link you share is fetched server-side and — when AI structuring is enabled — its caption or transcript is sent to Anthropic's API to be structured into a recipe.
- Planner history: which recipes you kept, swapped or rated, so weekly plans get better over time. This is only used inside your account.
Recipe import
- From a link: Braise's server fetches the page you paste and extracts the recipe. The link is stored with the recipe so you can find the source again.
- From a photo: the photo is sent to Google Cloud Vision to read the text, then discarded. Only the extracted recipe text is kept. Google's handling of that request is covered by Google Cloud's data processing terms.
Where data lives
Braise runs on Vercel (application hosting) and Neon (database), both in the United States. Connections are encrypted in transit. Your data is accessed only to operate the service and to help you if you contact support.
Camera and photos
The app asks for camera access only when you choose to import a recipe from a photo. Nothing is captured without you pressing the shutter, and no photos are kept.
Deleting your account
Open Settings → Delete account in the app. This permanently removes your account and everything it owns: recipes, plans, grocery lists, preferences and planner history. It cannot be undone.
Children
Braise is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
